Nancy Martin practices in the areas of civil defense litigation, business disputes, creditors’ rights, and bankruptcy law. She handles cases involving general personal injury defense, premises liability, product liability, and insurance coverage. She also represents businesses in commercial tort cases, contract matters, and employment disputes, and creditors with their default servicing needs.

Prior to joining Boggs, Avellino, Lach & Boggs, L.L.C., Ms. Martin headed up the bankruptcy department of a high-volume, multi-district creditors’ rights practice, representing residential mortgage creditors under Fannie/Freddie default servicing guidelines. In that capacity, she handled all aspects of bankruptcy representation, including, plan analyses and objections, claim filings and defense, motion practice, and bankruptcy litigation. For example, Ms. Martin successfully defended lien avoidance actions by Chapter 7 trustees in Checkett v. Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., 06-06026 and Rouse v. Wells Fargo Bank, N.A., 07-03035. She represented mortgage lenders and servicers in over two thousand cases during her tenure.

Ms. Martin also successfully litigated non-bankruptcy matters at the federal, state, and local levels, and successfully defended judgments on appeal. McCaskill v. First Franklin Financial Corporation et al. 05-04340. She was a member of the Mortgage Committee of the National Association of Chapter 13 Trustees, and assisted with drafting the first post-BAPCPA revisions of the Local Rules of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Missouri, as a member of the Local Rules Advisory Committee.

Ms. Martin also served as partner in a commercial law practice where she engaged in motion and litigation practice as local counsel for secured lenders. California First National Bank v. Boh Bros Construction Co. LLC et al., 16-01011; 16-04035; Abengoa Bioenergy US Holding LLC, 16-41161; LaMar Investment Capital LLC, 18-47837. In this position, Ms. Martin also handled complex commercial foreclosures and loan workouts.  

Ms. Martin received her Juris Doctorate in 2002 from Washington University School of Law. While in law school, she served as a student law clerk for the Honorable Barry S. Schermer of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Missouri and won the Golden Gavel Award in the Wiley Rutledge Moot Court Competition for best brief. She received her undergraduate degree in International Business in 1999 from St. Louis University, graduating magna cum laude.
